Epictetus
Our mission is to provide high quality, collaborative, therapy-focused psychiatric care that centers the whole person and empowers the patient in their own treatment. We seek to provide a therapeutic environment where people of all neurotypes, gender identities, religious beliefs, and ethnicities feel welcome and safe. We hope to provide a judgment free space that will work to destigmatize mental health disorders, as these disorders arise out of the most basic experiences that make us human.
Serene Mind Psychiatry is an out-of-network provider of psychiatric care. Instead of going through an insurance company, payment is per appointment time and type and due at the time of service. This allows the doctor to spend an appropriate amount of time with their patient rather than allowing the dictates of insurance billing to impact care. Appointment times and frequencies are agreed upon following a discussion between the patient and the doctor, based on your unique needs. Your doctor will not discuss your care with insurance providers, nor will insurance companies and third-party payors have access to your personal diagnosis and treatment records. If you patient request a “superbill,” your doctor will provide a billing invoice, which includes diagnostic procedure codes only, that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement of services rendered. The amount you are reimbursed depends upon your particular out-of-network service plan.
Patients can experience professional psychiatric care for the comfort and privacy of their own homes. This model allows for more flexibility in scheduling, provides safe treatment during times of high transmissibility of infectious diseases such as Covid-19, RSV, and Influenza, eliminates the hassle of commute and wait room times, and significantly reduces unexpected missed appointments.
Serene Mind Psychiatry utilizes an integrated telehealth system through our medical records provider, Charm Health. Charm Health also has available a patient portal where schedule and refill requests, along with other non-urgent questions, can be communicated to your doctor.
